Back on September 26, we wrote a blog post about Coke vs. Pepsi and the battle for the best tasting and selling soft drink, which has been going on since the late 1800s. We used our own business information from HighBeam Business with its more than 10,000 publications to compare media mentions from August 2007 to August 2011, and we reported that Coke won by a landslide with 73% over Pepsi with 27%.

We recently came across this great graphic from Business Insurance Quotes. We love this graphic, not only because of the historical timeline, but also because it adds fire to the cola wars with information on market share and recent revenue and income growth.

We won’t go into all the details of the graphic because you can see for yourself, but we did want to add one more element to the cola wars – sustainability. On May 13, 2010, Ariel Schwartz of Fast Company wrote an article entitled, “Sustainability Faceoff: Coca-Cola vs. PepisCo.” The article compares the two companies’ sustainability initiatives and concludes that PepsiCo outshines Coca-Cola in human impact 62% to 56%. It will be interesting to follow this comparison for the next couple years!
